Black Hills IP- Legal Support Representative (Rapid City, SD)

Job Details
Under the direct supervision of the Facility/Site Manager, the Legal Support Representative is responsible for completing all assigned projects in a timely manner with a high level of quality. Utilizing special computerized programs, the Legal Support Representative will enter and track critical dates and data to assure that required actions take place when required; communicates with the customer the deadlines and status of the documents; updates and verifies applicable IP documents, databases, and deadlines; and verifies Patent Trade Office data. The customer may be a private individual or organization of the United States or other country.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Receives, documents, prepares, enters, processes and maintains all required documentation related to the processing of customer formal applications for patents and trademarks in a timely manner;
  • Documents customer specifications; prepares various documents for customer signature and submittal;
  • Verifies data and resolves inconsistencies including customer number issues;
  • Prepares and maintains all related document tracking programs, including submitting proper status notifications to customers; Communicates with customers both verbally and in-writing of the status of their project;
  • Prepares and maintains all required docketing related reports and other related reports as required;
  • Prepares and maintains customer billing program.

ADDITIONAL TASKS

  • May act as backup to other staff in their absence;
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and required.

Job Details
Under the direct supervision of the Legal Process Manager, the Information Disclosure Statement (IDS) Specialist is responsible for the preparation of Information Disclosure Statements; both paper and electronic format. The customer may be a private individual or organization of the United States or other country.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Obtains copies of patents and published articles through on-line sources, libraries, or other resources
  • Contacts customers to obtain search results for possible citation in an IDS
  • Enters references into FIP Database and customers databases as applicable
  • Verifies that all references on USPTO forms match physical documents
  • Prepares documents for filing with USPTO and other patent offices
  • Files documents with USPTO and forwards to foreign associates for filing in other patent offices

  • Acts as a liaison between the firm’s paralegals and attorneys;
  • Contacts the patent and trademark office as needed; files and submits fee payments to USPTO;
  • Corrects USPTO errors as necessary;
  • Prepares formal documents for customer signatures and does follow-up to ensure signed documents are returned in a timely manner.
  • Maintains knowledge of current procedures, CMG manual and practices, and customer information.

Position Description:  

Education: Bachelor’s Science or equivalent a academic experience. 

Training and Experience: Must have flying experience within the past seven (7) years and a minimum of 500 flying hours in the U2 aircraft for which they will instruct and develop training.  Instructor experience in the aircraft preferred. 

General Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, detail oriented, flexible in work assignments, work with little to no supervision, and enthusiastic.  Ability to travel extensively as required by work assignments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for their aircraft by providing technical content for courseware.

  • Monitor Stan Eval trends and initiate revisions in courseware to address customer trends. 
  • Monitor courseware currency in assigned academic areas of responsibility.
  • Develop courseware/monitor courseware currency for their assigned aircraft and assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Provide content input for all lesson revisions for which they are the primary SME.
  • Coordinate lesson revision input with other I/SMEs.
  • Identify areas of instruction requiring immediate attention. 
  • In coordination with the customer, develop an annual training plan for the primary customer site to which they are assigned.
  • Review all aircraft and operations-related publications for updated information to be incorporated into courseware and training materials.
  • Maintain proficiency and certification to teach as outlined in the CTI Instructor Training and Certification Plan.
  • Serve as the interface between the customer and CTI.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned (e.g., business development, local meetings, CRM research, etc.).

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Support and assist various projects as assigned within WRD’s Maintenance Department. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Project assignments may include:

  • Review and update preventative maintenance work order sheets
  • Review, enter and analyze key data points to determine trends on equipment performance
  • Lead the securing and staging of parts and equipment on planned projects
  • Schedule and secure special tools and equipment for planned projects
  • Update Equipment Asset Management preventative maintenance scheduling for mine equipment
