The SD CEO, South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity, has partnered with Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Black Hills to bring you the Start Right: Build Your Own Business class.
Class is available statewide via Dakota Digital Network (DDN.)
The class includes the Start Right: Build Your Own Business book, which was developed by a Black Hills area business owner and expert who has helped more than 650 small-business owners start businesses that survive and thrive. The book is packed with concise, real-life advice. In just a few hours of class time, you can gain the must-have information that it has taken some business owners a lifetime to learn.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Research a business idea
- Write a business plan
- Find the money to run a business
- Select an attorney, accountant and other professionals to advise them
- Understand their business finances
- Set up effective, organized files
- Brand and market their business
- Use checklists in the book to stay on track as they build their business
Meet the presenter:
 Terry Mills is the Education and Community Outreach Manager for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Black Hills (CCCS/BH). He is a certified educator and credit counselor who, since 2004, has taught classes throughout western South Dakota about credit, budgeting, and starting a business. He worked as a lender for 10 years before joining CCCS/BH, and has years of experience writing and reviewing business plans. He is also a certified housing counselor. Mills holds a degree in Agri-Business and Commercial Economics from South Dakota State University.
